FAQ

A. Basic Questions

1. What are GEAROPT water-sports bone conduction headphones?

GEAROPT water-sports bone conduction headphones are open-ear headphones designed for swimming, diving-related use, water sports, training and everyday movement. They use bone conduction technology to deliver sound while keeping your ears open for better awareness.

2. How are they different from normal Bluetooth earbuds?

Unlike in-ear earbuds, GEAROPT headphones do not block the ear canal. They sit near your cheekbones and transmit sound through vibration, making them more suitable for water sports and outdoor activities where awareness and comfort matter.

3. Who are they designed for?

They are designed for swimmers, water-sports users, snorkeling users, diving-related users, outdoor athletes and people who want one headset for both wet and dry training environments.

4. Can I use Bluetooth underwater?

No. Bluetooth does not transmit reliably underwater. For swimming or underwater use, please switch to MP3 mode and play music directly from the built-in storage.

5. Why should I use MP3 mode for swimming?

Water weakens Bluetooth signals. MP3 mode lets you play music directly from the headphones, so you do not need to keep your phone nearby while swimming or using the headphones underwater.

6. What is the difference between the 20m and 50m versions?

The 20m version is suitable for swimming, snorkeling, pool training and general water-sports use. The 50m version is designed for users who need a higher waterproof depth rating for more demanding diving-related and water-sports environments.

7. Can I use them in seawater?

Yes. After seawater use, rinse the headphones gently with fresh water and dry them completely before charging or storage.

8. Can I wear them with goggles, swim caps or diving masks?

Yes. The open-ear neckband design is made to work with most goggles, swim caps and water-sports gear. Fit may vary by head shape and equipment thickness, so adjust the position before entering the water.

9. Can I make phone calls underwater?

No. Phone calls require Bluetooth and microphone performance, which are designed for land or surface use. Underwater use should rely on MP3 playback.

10. How should I clean them after saltwater or pool use?

Rinse gently with fresh water, wipe with a soft cloth and let the headphones dry completely. Make sure the charging contacts are fully dry before charging.

11. Are they suitable for running, cycling and gym training too?

Yes. They are suitable for swimming, running, cycling, gym training, boating, paddleboarding, surfing preparation, commuting and other active lifestyles. Use Bluetooth mode on land and MP3 mode underwater.

B. Bluetooth & MP3

12. Can I use Bluetooth while swimming?

No. Bluetooth does not transmit well underwater. For swimming or underwater use, please switch to MP3 mode and play music directly from the built-in storage.

13. When should I use Bluetooth mode?

Bluetooth mode is best for land and surface activities, such as running, cycling, gym training, boating, commuting, paddleboarding, surfing preparation and phone calls on land.

14. When should I use MP3 mode?

MP3 mode is recommended for swimming, snorkeling, diving-related use and any underwater activity where Bluetooth connection is not stable.

15. How much music can I store?

GEAROPT headphones include 32GB built-in storage, allowing users to store a large music library directly inside the headphones. Actual storage capacity may vary slightly because of system files and formatting.

C. Waterproof & Water-Sports Use

16. Are they waterproof?

Yes. GEAROPT offers water-sports versions designed for underwater and wet-environment use, including 20m and 50m waterproof options.

17. What is the difference between the 20m and 50m versions?

The 20m version is suitable for swimming, snorkeling, pool training and general water sports. The 50m version is designed for users who need a higher waterproof depth rating for more demanding diving-related and water-sports environments.

18. Can I use them for diving?

They may be used for suitable diving-related activities within the product's rated waterproof depth and instructions. They are audio products only and are not diving safety equipment, communication equipment or life-support equipment.

19. Can I use them in seawater?

Yes. After use in seawater, rinse the headphones with fresh water and dry them before charging or storage. Salt residue may affect charging contacts and long-term product performance.

20. Can I use them in the shower, pool or open water?

They are designed for water-sports environments such as pools, open water and seawater use. Avoid hot water, steam rooms, soaps, shampoos, chemicals and high-pressure water jets, as these can damage waterproof seals over time.

D. Fit, Comfort & Awareness

21. Can I wear them with goggles or a swim cap?

Yes. The open-ear neckband design is made to work with most swim caps, goggles and water-sports gear. Adjust the fit before entering the water.

22. Can I wear them with a diving hood?

They may be used with some diving hoods, but fit can vary depending on hood thickness and head shape. We recommend testing comfort and placement before diving.

23. Will they block outside sounds?

No. The open-ear design helps you stay more aware of your surroundings compared with in-ear headphones. This can be useful for running, cycling, boating and outdoor water-sports environments.

24. How do I get the best sound quality?

Place the speaker area firmly near your cheekbones and adjust the fit so the headphones do not move during activity. Sound quality may change underwater because water affects vibration and sound perception.

25. Are bone conduction headphones better for awareness?

They can help users remain more aware of surrounding sounds because the ear canal stays open. Always keep the volume at a level that allows you to notice important sounds and instructions around you.

E. Battery, Charging & Controls

26. How long does the battery last?

GEAROPT headphones support up to 9 hours in Bluetooth mode and up to 6 hours in MP3 mode. Actual battery life may vary depending on volume, sound mode, temperature, file type and usage conditions.

27. Do they support fast charging?

Yes. A 10-minute quick charge can provide up to around 3 hours of playback under typical use conditions.

28. Can I charge them when wet?

No. Always dry the charging contacts and the headphones completely before charging. Do not charge the headphones near water or while the charging contacts are wet.

29. What sound modes are available?

GEAROPT headphones include four sound modes: Vocal, Bass, Swimming and Balance, so users can choose the sound profile that fits their activity.

30. Can I use them while charging?

No. Do not use the headphones while charging.

F. Calls, Microphone & Land Use

31. Can I use them for phone calls?

Yes. The headphones support calls on land and include microphone noise-reduction features for clearer voice communication in suitable environments.

32. Can I use the microphone underwater?

No. The microphone and phone-call function are designed for land-based use. Underwater use should rely on MP3 playback.

33. Are they only for swimming and diving?

No. They are also suitable for running, cycling, gym training, boating, paddleboarding, surfing preparation, commuting and other active lifestyles.

G. Care, Storage & Troubleshooting

34. How should I clean the headphones after use?

Rinse the headphones gently with fresh water after use in seawater, pool water or dirty water. Wipe them with a soft cloth and allow them to dry completely before charging or storage.

35. What should I avoid?

Avoid hot water, steam rooms, soaps, shampoos, detergents, alcohol, sunscreen residue, strong chemicals, high-pressure water jets, heavy impact and unauthorized disassembly.

36. What should I do if the headphones do not charge?

Make sure the charging contacts are clean and completely dry. Check that the charging cable is properly connected. If the issue continues, contact GEAROPT Customer Support with your order number, product model and photos or videos of the issue.

37. What should I do if the sound is too low?

Check the volume setting, music file quality, sound mode and wearing position. Bone conduction sound depends strongly on proper placement near the cheekbones.

38. How should I store the headphones?

Store them in a clean, dry and ventilated place away from high temperature, direct sunlight, corrosive chemicals and heavy pressure.

39. What is covered by the warranty?

The limited commercial warranty covers manufacturing defects and functional failures under normal use during the applicable warranty period. Damage caused by misuse, impact, improper charging, unauthorized repair, failure to clean or dry after water use, or use outside the manual is not covered.
